Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen, Mexico is located in the heart of the Riviera Maya. The town offers beautiful beaches and a relaxed atmosphere with a significant Italian and general European influence. Once a small fishing village, the booming town now relies primarily on the tourism of sun worshipers, sea adventurers, backpackers, and luxury resort dwellers.
Tourist activity in Playa del Carmen centers on Avenida Quinta (5th Avenue) a pedestrian walkway one block from the beach lined with boutique hotels, shops, bars, and restaurants. Playa del Carmen’s coast also offers good scuba diving as well as underground cave “cenote” diving and access to nearby Mayan ruins.
